When Pain and Stress Keep You Awake, Your Body Never Gets a Fair Chance to Recover

Restful sleep is when your body repairs, resets and prepares for the next day. Neck pain, back pain, headaches and an overworked nervous system can make it difficult to fall asleep, stay asleep or wake feeling restored.

Sleep Problems Often Have a Daytime Cause

Poor sleep is not always a bedroom problem. Pain, restricted movement, irritated joints and a nervous system that stays stuck in “high alert” can follow you into the night. Our first job is to listen, examine your spine and nervous system, and determine what may be keeping your body from settling down.

Our goal is simple: remove obstacles to better rest.

Corrective chiropractic care may help by improving spinal function, reducing pain and helping the nervous system process movement and stress more efficiently. When pain is driving sleep disruption, addressing the source can make rest easier and recovery stronger.

What the Research Is Showing

A 2024 randomized study of people with chronic low back pain reported improvements in light sleep after four weeks of chiropractic care, along with reductions in pain, fatigue, anxiety and depression.

Research involving active-duty military personnel has also found that improvements in pain and disability during chiropractic care helped explain later improvements in sleep disturbance.

Your Examination Comes First

Sleep disruption can have many causes. We will look for pain, postural stress, restricted motion and neurological strain that fall within our scope of care. When your history suggests sleep apnea, medication effects or another medical concern, we will encourage the appropriate medical evaluation.

We do not chase sleep with another pill. We look for the reason your body cannot fully rest.
